DNA
DNA panel testing varies by breed and tests a series of hereditary genes to analyze if a dog is clear (N/N), a carrier (N/M), or a double carrier (M/M). The parents will each contribute 1 gene to their offspring.
Dogs who are clear (N/N) can not pass on the gene to their offspring, dogs who are a carrier (N/M) have a 50/50 chance of passing on 1 copy of the gene, and dogs who are a double carrier (M/M) will pass on 1 copy of the gene.

An adverse gene carrier should not be bred to a corresponding adverse gene carrier to prevent the risk of doubling up the gene(s) in their offspring.

Hartspride does not breed double carriers or dogs that are a carrier to a corresponding carrier for our DNA panel. Our dogs are also 1 or more of the following - DNA tested by Embark or Paw Print Genetics and/or cleared by parentage for the following DNA panel:

CEA (collie eye anomaly), CD (cone degeneration), DM (degenerative myelopathy), HC (hereditary cataracts), HUU (Hyperuricosuria), MDR1 (multiple drug resistance 1), CMR1 (canine multifocal retinopathy), NCL (Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis), PRA-PRCD (progressive retinal atrophy, progressive rod-cone degeneration), and DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy)
