Eyes
Eye defects are 1 of the largest health concerns in the Australian Shepherd breed. Cataracts maybe be caused by a hereditary condition and/or trauma to the eye.
OFA eye certification guarantees that a dog's eyes tested clear of clouding / opaqueness at the time of examination.
Embark and Paw Print Genetics test a dog's DNA for genes that cause hereditary eye concerns. HC (hereditary cataracts HSF-4), CEA (collie eye anomaly), PRA-PRCD (progressive retinal atrophy, progressive rod-cone degeneration), CD (cone degeneration), and CMR1 (canine multifocal retinopathy)
